G Adventures Relaunches “Sailing Sri Lanka-South Coast”

After a 5 year pause due to the pandemic and nearly a 30% surge in demand for the destination, G Adventures is re-launching its “Sailing Sri Lanka – South Coast” itinerary.

Travellers will explore the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean” from the deck of a aboard a 54ft CEYCAT Catamaran, visiting Mirissa, Kudawella and Kalametiya, keeping eyes peeled for dolphins and whales while swimming in the country’s iconic sapphire-blue waters.

“We couldn’t be more excited to relaunch Sailing Sri Lanka – South Coast,” says Vince Donnelly, Global Sailing Director, G Adventures. “There’s no better way to explore the beauty of Sri Lanka and the trip is the perfect mix of adventure and chill, with spectacular wildlife, sunrise swims, delicious food and time in local villages where residents welcome you like family. With demand for Sri Lanka growing, we knew it was time to bring this one back into the spotlight and do more to support a country that’s been through so much in recent years.”

With first departures in December, the seven-day ‘Sri Lanka Sailing – South Coast’ trip can also be combined with land-based trips to create a two-week Sri Lanka experience.

There’ll be an opportunity to wander through the village of Kalametiya, mingling with local residents and with a chance in spotting the 150 bird, 38 reptile and 20 mammal species that call a nearby sanctuary home. From there, the group will sail west to Rumassala, spending the afternoon relaxing on Jungle Beach or hiking up to the Japanese Peace Pagoda with sweeping views over the Galle Bay. At the 16th-century UNESCO Galle Fort, travellers will visit the ramparts before exploring the capital, taking in the Dutch architecture and lovely atmosphere and stocking up on locally-crafted souvenirs, before sailing back to Mirissa.

Every trip will be guided by one of G Adventures’ CEO’s – Chief Experience Officers – and will also include an on-board Skipper and Chef, who will serve up fresh catch of the day and gastronomical local dishes.

G Adventures’ Sailing Sri Lanka trip is ready to book now.
