The Haitian island of Labadee, a once popular stop on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises sailings has once again been pulled from cruise itineraries, a Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson confirmed with TMR.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we have temporarily paused our upcoming visits to Labadee,” the spokesperson said. “We have already communicated with guests directly.”

The stoppage comes just days after Haiti’s transitional government approved a “war budget” to help fight the country’s ongoing struggle with gangs.

The U.S. Embassy in Haiti has issued several alerts regarding safety over the past year with the most recent dated April 13, 2024 and warning of “Rising levels of violence and insecurity and threats and attacks against security forces and prisons.”

The last time Royal Caribbean canceled all Labadee calls was in March 2024, with the island kept off all itineraries through the end of September 2024.
