A conciliation process with the assistance of federally appointed mediators has ended without a tentative agreement and Air Canada flight attendants are heading for a strike vote.
“Despite sustained efforts at the bargaining table, key issues remain unresolved, including but not limited to: Pay; Unpaid work; Per diems; Pension; Work rules; Prone rest,” wrote representatives of the Air Canada Component of the Canadian Union of Public Employees in a letter to its members.
“Our role as your Union is to negotiate a deal that you deserve, one that reflects your value, your work, and your sacrifices. That means nothing less than an industry-leading contract, and we will not settle for less,” CUPE added.
CUPE has informed members that they will be asked to vote in favour of a Strike Mandate beginning next week.
Membership Information Sessions will be held via Zoom, with details announced Friday, July 25, 2025. On Monday, members will receive instructions on how to cast their vote electronically. Voting will be open from Monday, July 28 through August 5, 2025.
“We understand the importance of this moment. We are united, focused, and committed to delivering the contract you’ve earned through your professionalism and dedication. No more diversions. Fair contract now,” the CUPE message concluded.
