Los Cabos is Finally Attracting Eastern Canadians & the Outlook is Strong
Los Cabos has been trying to attract visitors from Eastern Canada for years, with limited success. But as Los Cabos Tourism Board Managing Director Rodrigo Esponda tells Travel Market Report Canada editor-in-chief John Kirk, things are finally changing for the better.
The Mexican Pacific coast resort of Los Cabos has been trying to attract visitors from Ontario and points east for years, with limited success. But as Los Cabos Tourism Board Managing Director Rodrigo Esponda tells Travel Market Report Canada editor-in-chief John Kirk, things are finally changing for the better.
“We are seeing a 20% growth in arrivals from Canada, mainly Toronto, which we are very happy about. Vancouver and Calgary have been the natural markets for Los Cabos because they are located in the west, but we have always been trying to get more travellers from Toronto to come to Los Cabos.”
Esponda says that so far this year there has been a 50% increase of passengers travelling from Toronto and there’s a 25% increase in seat capacity from Canada for the coming winter. The CEO also tried to break down the myth that Los Cabos is only for the rich.
