Welcome to Luxury Travel Report, a new site for luxury travel advisors.

When the team at Travel Market Report first began conceptualizing Luxury Travel Report, the mission was clear: To take what we’ve done so well at TMR—serve as the voice of the advisor—and bring it to the luxury space.

We’re here to inform, inspire, and advocate for the value of the travel seller and the power of personalization in a world that too often settles for sameness. Our coverage constantly keeps the luxury advisor in mind—one who needs real-time insight, business-minded tools, and a sharp understanding of where this industry is going next.

I’m joining LTR with more than a decade of experience in luxury consumer travel media, and it’s clear across the board: The industry is changing. The latest research points to luxury travelers turning away from the beige and the predictable. These travelers want more than five stars—they want individuality, soul, and transformation. They crave legacy moments, not just luxury ones. And in a world overwhelmed with options, curation has become the new gold standard.

I learned firsthand how a good advisor can package all of these things exactly a decade ago, fresh off a stint at Condé Nast Traveler, when Paul Irvine, of Dehouche, helped me and my now-husband plan a trip to Brazil. We scrimped and saved for that trip, and while I’m sure Paul had clients who spent tenfold what we did, we never would’ve known from the care and attention we received, both during planning and on the ground.

He seamlessly shifted our dates around Rock in Rio to ensure we got to stay at our top hotel choice in Rio, Fasano (picture above), before leading us down to the lesser-visited UNESCO World Heritage Site Paraty, where we were overjoyed by the wonderful Tetê Etrusco, the charismatic owner of Casa Turquesa, and uncovered palm tree-fringed beach bars in between boat trips with caipirinhas in hand.

That trip showed me something advisors know well: Luxury isn’t at all about what you spend. It’s about how it makes you feel—and how long that feeling lasts.

That’s the kind of insight we’re here to share. And as the market evolves, so will we, always with our focus on serving you, the luxury travel advisor.

We’re glad you’re here.

Warmly,

Laura Ratliff
