When Windstar’s second new ship, Star Explorer, debuts in winter 2026/27 it will do so in the Mediterranean.
Launching Dec. 28, 2026, the 224-guest ship will stick to Windstar’s bread and butter destinations, offering year-round Europe sailings with overnight stays in such marquee ports as Florence (Livorno), Barcelona, and Nice.
“Winter is when the Mediterranean slows down — and that’s when Windstar steps in,” said Jess Peterson, director of destination experience & itinerary planning. “With Star Explorer, we’re offering guests a chance to see these legendary places with fresh eyes and fewer crowds, all in the comfort of our newest yacht.”
Itineraries include the inaugural sailing, which departs Barcelona on Dec. 28, 2026, for a nine-night cruise exploring Southern Spain and the surrounding area. Other itineraries include a seven-night Winter Riviera, eight-night Winter Italy & the Dalmatian Coast, and more including longer Star Collector Voyages of 13 nights or longer.
Clients interested in the new ship can take advantage of Windstar’s early booking offer, available through July 31, 2025. Clients who book now will receive a complimentary all-inclusive package, featuring Wi-Fi, unlimited beverages, and gratuities. They’ll also get up to $200 in onboard credit per stateroom. Anyone who chooses to pay in full up font – in conjunction with the early booking offer – will also get an additional 5% discount on the cruise fare.
Star Explorer will feature 112 suites, including two Horizon Owner’s Suites.
