The World’s 50 Best Hotels Reveals Its 2026 Extended List
Asia leads the expanded ranking with 20 hotels, while La Réserve Paris claims the No. 51 spot.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels has unveiled the properties ranked No. 51 through No. 100 for 2026, offering an early look at the global ranking ahead of the top 50 announcement in Paris on September 15.
La Réserve Paris leads the extended list at No. 51, followed by Janu Tokyo at No. 52 and Park Hyatt Tokyo at No. 53. Palacio Nazarenas in Cusco and Soneva Fushi in the Maldives complete the top five among the newly announced rankings.
Asia earned the largest share of the extended list, with 20 hotels. Japan accounted for seven of those properties, including five in Tokyo: Janu Tokyo, Park Hyatt Tokyo, The Okura, Palace Hotel Tokyo, and Hoshinoya Tokyo. Hotel The Mitsui in Kyoto and Waldorf Astoria Osaka also made the ranking.
Europe followed with 16 hotels, nine of them in Italy. Il San Pietro di Positano was the highest-ranked independent hotel at No. 58, while other Italian entries included Splendido, Castiglion del Bosco, Orient Express La Minerva, and Forestis Dolomites.
North America placed nine properties on the list: Hotel Bel-Air was the region’s highest-ranked hotel at No. 57, followed by The Beverly Hills Hotel at No. 65. New York City secured three places: The Fifth Avenue Hotel at No. 78, Aman New York at No. 87, and The Greenwich Hotel at No. 92. The Fifth Avenue Hotel also received this year’s American Express Travel One To Watch Award.
“The 51–100 list recognises 50 more exceptional hotels that represent the very best of global hospitality,” said Faye Huggett, director of community for The World’s 50 Best Hotels. “Every hotel here has earned its place through our expert Academy’s votes and we hope their achievements will go on to inspire future travels.”
The ranking is based on votes from more than 800 anonymous hoteliers, travel journalists, educators, and experienced luxury travelers. Each voter selects seven hotels based on stays completed during the three-year voting period. Deloitte independently adjudicates the process.
