American Express and Accor are expanding their relationship with a new global loyalty partnership that will give eligible American Express card members elite status in ALL Accor and a new way to redeem points. While the announcement is aimed squarely at consumers, it also has implications for luxury travel advisors, who have long competed with American Express’ hotel booking ecosystem for premium travelers.

Rolling out in phases beginning later this year across 12 markets—including Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Japan, and Singapore—the partnership introduces two key benefits: eligible American Express Consumer, Small Business and Corporate Platinum card members will receive ALL Accor Gold status, which includes perks such as complimentary Wi-Fi, welcome amenities, late checkout, room upgrades when available and bonus points. Card members will also be able to transfer Membership Rewards points directly to ALL Accor. The benefits apply across Accor’s portfolio of more than 45 brands, including Raffles, Fairmont, Sofitel, and Orient Express. (Market-specific conversion ratios to be announced.)

For advisors, the partnership reinforces American Express’ growing value proposition for luxury travelers who book independently. Elite recognition and a new hotel transfer partner make the Membership Rewards ecosystem more compelling, particularly for clients who already hold Platinum cards. At the same time, the announcement stops short of replicating the value advisors can offer through preferred hotel partnerships. Many luxury advisors book Accor properties through programs such as Virtuoso or Accor Preferred by HERA, which can provide benefits including complimentary breakfast, hotel credits, VIP recognition, and personalized service before and during a stay.

The partnership may also help advisors better serve clients who are deeply invested in Membership Rewards. Clients can now earn and transfer points into ALL Accor while still taking advantage of advisor expertise for trip planning and hotel selection, creating opportunities to combine loyalty benefits with advisor-added value rather than forcing travelers to choose one over the other.

“This collaboration reflects our continued focus on delivering premium travel value and meaningful rewards for our Card Members,” said Suzanne Morel, senior vice president of International Products and Partnerships at American Express. “Together with Accor, we’re amplifying the value of two trusted global brands by pairing meaningful recognition with greater redemption flexibility, to deliver elevated, end-to-end experiences for Card Members across markets.”

Mehdi Hemici, Accor’s chief loyalty and e-commerce officer, said the partnership is intended to create a more seamless guest experience. “By combining our expansive brands and experiences with the strength of their global reach, we’re creating more seamless, personalized stays and unlocking richer ways for guests to engage with ALL Accor at every stage of their journey.”

While the announcement is unlikely to change the fundamentals of luxury hotel sales overnight, it raises the importance of articulating where advisor bookings go beyond loyalty benefits—through preferred partner amenities, hotel relationships, advocacy when plans change, and the personalized service that remains difficult for any credit card program to replicate.
