Windstar Cruises Reveals Designs for Star Class Renovation
Suites and public spaces will be redesigned as part of the cruise line’s $250 million renovation initiative.

Windstar Cruises today revealed new designs for suites and public spaces that will be featured as part of its $250 million lengthening and renovation of its three Star Class ships.
Speaking at a press briefing during Seatrade Cruise Global, the line’s President John Delaney said the improvements will yield a better experience for guests.
As one example, he said, in 50 new suites the beds will be located next to the floor-to-ceiling windows that lead to the balcony, with the living room area located near the entrance. He said the layout is similar to many river cruises and is designed so that when customers enter their suite, there is a more spacious feel; and when they wake up in the morning, they will be greeted with a bird’s eye view of the ocean.

At the same time, the suites will retain their large walk-in closets with dual vanity bathrooms; however, a design refresh provides a “spa-like” feeling. Delaney said about 20% of suites will retain tubs, with the balance offering walk-in showers.
Each ship will get a new Owner’s Suite, which can be extended to a three-bedroom Grand Owner’s Suite with 3.5 baths, a living room, dining room, and bar with stools. He said it is perfect for families, and said Breeze and Legend, which recently opened for post-dry dock sales, are seeing strong demand for the new suites.
The popular all-day Veranda restaurants will also triple their indoor space to ensure there are enough tables during inclement weather, while still retaining outdoor options. Extended buffets will enable separate presentations of hot and cold options, as well as deserts. Guests will no longer have to walk outside to access the restaurant.

Delaney said there will be more announcements in the coming months regarding a new spa partnership as well as chef collaboration.
