Beginning next year, AmaWaterways has announced plans to significantly expand its African cruise program by adding four new itineraries.

These newly curated journeys will pair three-night Chobe River cruises with in-depth land excursions covering Victoria Falls and new locations, including Kenya, Namibia, Zanzibar, and the Skeleton Coast. Guests on the new itineraries will be hosted on the line’s intimate 28-passenger Zambezi Queen.

“Our Africa program is very meaningful to me, as it was one of the first cruises I experienced with AmaWaterways after becoming CEO, and it truly left an unforgettable impression,” said Catherine Powell, CEO of AmaWaterways. “We’re thrilled to offer even more opportunities for our guests to experience the trip of a lifetime—seeing wildlife right on the riverbanks, connecting with amazing people, and exploring the rich cultures and landscapes that make this region so special. Our guests can now explore even more of Southern and Eastern Africa in comfort and style, while supporting local communities through sustainable tourism.”

Highlights of the new itineraries include exceptional wildlife viewing, complemented by opportunities to experience the continent’s rich culture, cuisine, and landscapes. Trips range from nine to 18 nights, and include itineraries such as From the Cape to the Falls, a nine- or 11-night journey from Cape Town to Victoria Falls, that includes penguin encounters at Boulders Beach; Iconic Africa, a two-week trip through Cape Town, Victoria Falls, and Greater Kruger National Park; and Classic Kenya & Southern Africa, a 14- or 18-night cross-regional experience that combines Chobe River and Victoria Falls with Kenya.

The ship was designed for up-close wildlife viewing along the Chobe River and features eco-friendly features such as solar heating, low-emission generators, and water-jet propulsion. Guests have private balcony suites with river views, an open-air sun deck with plunge pools, and complimentary drinks throughout the day.
