Cunard will join New York’s Sail4th 250 celebration next summer with a special Independence Day voyage aboard the Queen Mary 2.
The luxury cruise line announced that the seven-night 250th Independence Day Celebration Cruise will begin in New York on July 3, 2026, as part of the nationwide Semiquincentennial festivities. The sailing will also coincide with Sail4th 250, a massive international flotilla expected to bring more than 100 vessels into New York Harbor for what organizers describe as the largest gathering of tall ships ever assembled.
The special itinerary includes two days in New York during the Sail4th celebrations, then continues to Newport, Rhode Island, and Halifax, Nova Scotia, before returning to New York on July 10.
Travelers will have the opportunity to explore Newport’s famed Gilded Age mansions overlooking the Atlantic. The voyage also includes a two-day stop in Halifax, the hometown of Cunard founder Sir Samuel Cunard, whose bronze statue stands along the city’s waterfront.
The celebration cruise will also feature onboard programming from Cunard Insights guest speakers, including art historian and former Rutgers University dean Dr. Seth Gopin and maritime historian Bill Miller, known as “Mr. Ocean Liner.” Miller has authored more than 100 books on passenger ships and has lectured aboard Cunard vessels for more than four decades.
Cunard operates a fleet of four ships: Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria, and Queen Anne. The Queen Mary 2 is the world’s last ocean liner.
