Regent Seven Seas Cruises has postponed the debut of Seven Seas Prestige, canceling its Dec. 13 inaugural voyage and rescheduling the ship’s first sailing for Dec. 28, 2026, from Miami.
The delay affects a significant addition to Regent’s fleet: Seven Seas Prestige will introduce the line’s first new ship class in a decade. Regent said it needs additional construction time before it can welcome guests.
“Following a thorough review of the construction schedule for Seven Seas Prestige, we have made the decision to allow additional time for final work to ensure the ship is introduced to the world at the exceptional standard our guests deserve,” the line wrote in a guest communication shared on Cruise Critic.

Regent said the decision followed discussions with shipbuilder Fincantieri. Guests posting on the forum reported receiving cancellation notices in late September, roughly three months before the original departure.
Parent company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings acknowledged the delay in its third-quarter earnings release today, saying delivery had shifted to late December. The company cited the postponement as one factor affecting its fourth-quarter financial outlook, alongside the cancellation of select Seven Seas Voyager sailings transiting the Suez Canal.
For travelers booked on the canceled inaugural, the immediate questions concern refunds, replacement sailings, and expenses tied to the original trip. Affected guests posting on Cruise Critic reported offers of cruise-fare refunds and additional compensation. The earnings release did not detail specific compensation terms.
An excerpt from a cancellation letter shared on the forum also addressed guests booked on both the Dec. 13 and Dec. 28 voyages, saying Regent would send a separate communication about options for pre-cruise travel arrangements.
The revised inaugural is currently scheduled for Dec. 28.
