River Cruise Lines Cancel Post-Trip Israel Extensions

Israel says it is ready for tourists to return.

Ocean cruise lines aren’t the only cruise operators making changes in response to the ongoing Hamas attack in Israel. Several river cruise lines that operate Nile River cruises in Egypt have canceled post-trip Israel extensions.

AmaWaterways
AmaWaterways, which operates the AmaDahlia on the Nile River has “temporarily suspended” its optional four-night post-cruise land package in Israel up and including January 5, 2024. All guests with a post-cruise Israel package are being refunded for the Israel land portion, as well as the Cairo to Tel Aviv airfare.

“AmaWaterways is deeply saddened by the events in Israel and our hearts go out to all those impacted,” the line said in a statement.

Avalon Waterways
Avalon has canceled all Nile River cruise Israel extensions, offered in partnership with Globus, through Nov. 15, 2023. A spokesperson added that no Avalon guests were affected by the cancellation, as it didn’t actually have anyone with a Israel extension booked.

Uniworld
Uniworld Boutique River Cruises, which operates two ships in Egypt, has canceled all Jerusalem post-cruise extensions departing through Oct. 31, 2023.

“We are deeply saddened by the ongoing situation in Israel. Our hearts and thoughts are with everyone in the affected areas,” the line said.

Viking
Viking, which operates several ships in Egypt, has canceled a “select number” of Jerusalem extensions for its “Pharaohs & Pyramids” itinerary.
