AmaWaterways Reveals New Mekong Ship for 2027
The 120-guest AmaMaya will sail seven-night itineraries through Vietnam and Cambodia beginning in January 2027.

AmaWaterways has unveiled AmaMaya, a 120-guest ship scheduled to begin sailing the Mekong River in January 2027. The new vessel will operate the line’s seven-night “Charms of the Mekong and Riches of the Mekong” itineraries through Vietnam and Cambodia.
The ship will carry 120 guests in 60 staterooms, matching the capacity and accommodation types of its sister ship, AmaDara. Its interiors take a contemporary approach to Indochine design, with details intended to reflect the landscapes and cultures guests encounter along the river.
“The Mekong offers such a special way to discover Vietnam and Cambodia, bringing guests into close contact with the people and traditions of the region,” said AmaWaterways CEO Catherine Powell. “With AmaMaya, we wanted to build on that connection by inviting guests onto a ship that is inspired by its surroundings and the rivers it sails.”
On board, guests will have a choice of two restaurants. The Mekong Restaurant will serve dishes with local and international influences, while The Chef’s Table will offer a multi-course tasting menu. AmaWaterways says both venues will accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs. A sun deck pool, fitness room, and three massage rooms round out the amenities, and a Wellness Host will lead fitness and mindfulness activities.
The included shore experiences range from village walks and visits to silk-making and rattan workshops to a tuk-tuk tour of Phnom Penh. Guests can also visit Oudong, Cambodia’s former royal capital, for a Buddhist blessing ceremony. In Vietnam, the program includes a trishaw ride through Tan Chau and a sampan excursion into the waterways of Tra Su Forest and Sanctuary.
For travelers who want more time in the region, “Charms of the Mekong” can be paired with a three-night stay in Bangkok. Guests booking “Riches of the Mekong” can choose either three nights in Bangkok or four nights in Central Vietnam.
