Travelers from the U.S. and Canada will require a visa to enter Brazil starting next week, on April 10, 2025.

First announced mid-2023, Brazil is re-instating its visa requirements for the U.S., Canada, and Australia. Brazil launched an electronic visa platform for the U.S. and Canada in December 2023, but has delayed its visa requirements several times. Most recently, Brazil delayed its visa reinstatement for a full year in April 2024.

Starting April 10, all U.S. and Canadian travelers arriving in Brazil via air, land, or sea will need to have an e-visa, which is good for stays up to 90 days. Those who already possess a valid physical visa for the visit do not need to apply for a new visa.

VFS Global is the only company authorized by the Brazilian government to process visa applicants. The e-visa can be processed online via https://brazil.vfsevisa.com/.

There is a processing fee of $80.90 (USD). While the processing time is estimated to be five business days, VFS Global strongly recommends travelers apply two months before their planned travel date. The validity of the e-visa ranges from 90 days to 10 years at the Consulate’s discretion, according to the Toronto Consulate’s website.
