Capella Hotel Group has appointed Roland Fasel as president, effective April 6, bringing a veteran luxury hospitality operator to oversee the company’s global portfolio and expansion plans.
Fasel arrives with more than three decades of experience across some of the most recognizable names in high-end hospitality. Most recently, he served as group chief operating officer at Maybourne Hotel Group, where he oversaw operations across a portfolio that includes Claridge’s, The Connaught, The Berkeley, The Maybourne Beverly Hills, and The Maybourne Riviera.
Before joining Maybourne, Fasel spent six years as chief operating officer at Aman, a period that coincided with a notable expansion phase for the brand. During his tenure, Aman opened several high-profile properties, including Amanyangyun in Shanghai, Aman Kyoto in Japan, and Aman New York in Manhattan.
Earlier in his career, Fasel held senior leadership roles across a range of luxury hospitality groups. He served as general manager of Badrutt’s Palace in St. Moritz, where he led an $80 million repositioning of the property. Prior to that, he spent nine years with Dorchester Collection as general manager of The Dorchester in London and regional director for the U.K., overseeing Coworth Park and 45 Park Lane. Fasel began his hospitality career with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in the United States before moving into leadership roles across Southeast Asia with Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts.
In his new role, Fasel will oversee the global operations of both Capella Hotels and Resorts and Patina Hotels & Resorts, two brands that together form Capella Hotel Group’s growing international portfolio. The Singapore-based company currently operates 12 hotels worldwide, including several Forbes Five-Star properties, and is pursuing an expansion plan to double its portfolio by 2030.

“Roland brings the rare combination of strategic vision and operational expertise to lead Capella Hotel Group through its next chapter of growth,” said Evan Kwee, vice chairman of Capella Hotel Group.
“He has transformed iconic properties by elevating both culture and performance—proving that excellence in luxury hospitality is both an art and a discipline. As we expand globally, we need a leader who can strengthen our competitive position while deepening the culture that differentiates us.”
Fasel is scheduled to assume the role on April 6, 2026.
