Dorchester Collection has announced one of the largest investments in the history of Milan’s Hotel Principe di Savoia, unveiling plans for a comprehensive restoration that will reposition the landmark property for its second century. The project coincides with the hotel’s centenary, celebrating nearly 100 years as one of Milan’s most iconic luxury hotels while introducing a new generation of accommodations and amenities.
To accommodate the extensive renovation, the hotel will temporarily close on Jan. 1, 2027, with a reopening planned for 2029.
When it reopens, Hotel Principe di Savoia will feature fewer but significantly larger guestrooms and suites, creating a more intimate luxury experience. The redevelopment will also introduce a limited collection of private residences, a new spa and wellness destination, enhanced dining concepts, and a rooftop venue overlooking Milan’s evolving skyline.
Dorchester Collection said the restoration is designed to preserve the hotel’s historic character while preparing it for the future through exceptional craftsmanship and thoughtful modernization.
Since opening in 1927, Hotel Principe di Savoia has welcomed generations of international travelers, dignitaries, and cultural figures, becoming one of Europe’s most recognized luxury hotels and an enduring symbol of Milanese hospitality.
The renovation represents one of the most significant investments ever made in the property and underscores Dorchester Collection’s confidence in Milan as one of Europe’s premier luxury travel destinations.
