SmartFlyer has appointed Michael Foley as director of global products, bringing a travel industry veteran with two decades of experience across destination management, tour operators, cruise and luxury hospitality to the New York-based travel agency.
In the newly announced role, Foley will lead SmartFlyer’s Global Products team, which oversees the company’s relationships with hotels, cruise lines, destinations and experience partners around the world. The team’s remit spans partnerships, cruise, advisor engagement, and product strategy, with Foley tasked with helping shape the company’s long-term approach as its global business expands.
Foley’s varied background across several sectors of the travel industry was a key factor in the appointment, according to Erina Pindar, managing partner and COO of SmartFlyer.
“One of the things I’ve always admired about Michael is that he’s never approached this industry through a single lens,” Pindar said. “He’s built his career by understanding how every part of the travel ecosystem connects.” Pindar added that SmartFlyer saw an opportunity to further develop its Global Products function as the company grows, with an emphasis on both long-term product strategy and its relationships with travel partners.
Foley said the position brings together several strands of his career while giving him the opportunity to work closely with SmartFlyer’s advisor community.
“After two decades across destination management, tour operators, cruise, and luxury hospitality, the opportunity to tie these experiences together and support one of the industry’s most respected advisor communities felt like the right next step,” Foley said. “I’m excited to help shape the next generation of partnerships and experiences that allow our advisors and their clients to explore the world in extraordinary ways.”
