AmaWaterways, the luxury river cruise line known for its boutique fleet and immersive itineraries, has strengthened its executive team with the appointment of two senior vice presidents: Angel Christopher Gomez, SVP of Global Consumer Sales and Service, and Sezin Aksoy, SVP of Revenue Management, Insights and Analytics. The appointments reflect AmaWaterways’ push to expand its global footprint and enhance its data-driven operations under new CEO Catherine Powell, who succeeded co-founder Rudi Schreiner as he moved into the role of chairman in July.
Gomez, who brings nearly two decades of leadership experience in the travel and hospitality industry, most recently served as associate VP at Celebrity Cruises within Royal Caribbean Group. At AmaWaterways, he will oversee global consumer sales, service, and reservations, with a focus on integrating omnichannel systems. His expertise in blending direct-to-consumer strategies with advisor-facing initiatives suggests a continued investment in advisor partnerships, particularly as the brand expands in key markets.
Aksoy’s addition signals a strong pivot toward advanced analytics and revenue optimization—critical elements as the river cruise sector grows increasingly competitive. Her background spans travel, entertainment, and sports, including senior roles at AXS and American Airlines, where she honed expertise in pricing strategies and data insights. By leading revenue management and analytics, Aksoy is expected to bring more precision to inventory controls, dynamic pricing, and demand forecasting, all things that can ultimately empower advisors to anticipate availability.
“These appointments not only reinforce AmaWaterways’ leadership bench but also align with the company’s ambition to offer a more responsive, personalized luxury cruise experience,” said Powell. “Angel and Sezin are purpose-driven leaders who will help us strengthen our culture of innovation and service excellence.”
The timing aligns with AmaWaterways’ expansion into new destinations, including its highly anticipated Magdalena River sailings in Colombia in 2025.
