Regent Seven Seas Cruises celebrated the keel laying of its next new ship, Seven Seas Prestige during a ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Maghera, Italy. Seven Seas Prestige will be the first ship in a new class for RSSC, the first new class of ship in 10 years.

As part of longstanding maritime tradition, three ceremonial coins, including a Venetian coin minted in 1688, were welded onto the keel of the ship. The coins are said to bring luck to all who sail onboard.

“Seven Seas Prestige represents our continued legacy of elevating the standard of ultra-luxury travel and we are proud to cement our place as leaders in the industry with this exciting milestone,” said Jason Montague, chief luxury officer for Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Along with Montague, ceremony attendees included Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings president and CEO Harry Sommer; NCLH executive vice president, chief vessel operations, and newbuild officer Patrik Dahlgren; and Fincantieri’s senior vice president of new building and after sales Daniele Fanara.

“Expertise, passion, and dedication to perfection are shared values between Regent and Fincantieri, and there is no one better placed to bring Seven Seas Prestige to life as we usher in a new age of excellence for Regent Seven Seas Cruises,” Montague added.

The 850-passenger Seven Seas Prestige is scheduled to launch in 2026. It will introduce new accommodation categories, including a reimagination of the palatial Regent Suite, plus new dining experiences.
