Silversea has released new details and renderings of the public spaces at The Cormorant at 55 South, its 150-room hotel under development in Puerto Williams, Chile. The property is scheduled to open in October 2026 and will anchor the brand’s Antarctica Fly Cruise program, with pre- and post-expedition overnights built into select itineraries.

Located on Navarino Island along the Beagle Channel, Puerto Williams is widely recognized as the world’s southernmost city and a key gateway to Antarctica. Silversea’s fly-cruise format routes guests from Santiago via direct charter flight to Puerto Williams, where they will stay one night at The Cormorant before continuing to King George Island for embarkation. The return journey mirrors the same sequence, with an additional overnight at the hotel before flying back to Santiago. The structure is designed to eliminate the need for the Drake Passage crossing while consolidating logistics into a single, coordinated flow.

“The Cormorant at 55 South represents an exciting new chapter for Silversea, extending our commitment to luxury travel to Antarctica,” said Bert Hernandez, the president of Silversea. “This unique property will offer our guests the same hallmark comfort and personalized service they expect while on board our ships and will immerse them in the rich culture, traditions, and natural beauty of the region. The interior spaces are thoughtfully designed to reflect the spirit of this extraordinary destination.”

The newly unveiled interiors center around five primary public venues. The Fireplace Lounge, positioned as a gathering space, draws on regional traditions of fire as a social focal point, with expansive windows oriented toward the surrounding Patagonian landscape. Latitude 55, the hotel’s signature restaurant, references its proximity to the 55th parallel south and will focus on Chilean and Patagonian ingredients in a setting that transitions from daytime dining to evening communal service.

Bar Sur will function as the hotel’s primary social venue, offering regional wines and spirits, including guided tastings and pisco-focused programming. Uncharted, the on-site boutique, will stock locally crafted keepsakes and expedition gear. Throughout the property, guest rooms will feature forest or water views toward the Beagle Channel, with interiors incorporating handcrafted elements by Chilean artisans.

The hotel will operate seasonally from October through March, aligning with the Antarctic expedition window.
