Time has released its annual World’s Greatest Places list for 2026, highlighting 100 destinations around the globe that stand out across hospitality, travel experiences, and cultural attractions.
The list spans hotels, cruise ships, resorts, museums, restaurants, and major visitor attractions. According to the magazine, the selections are drawn from nominations submitted by its international network of correspondents and contributors, as well as applications from destinations themselves. Editors ultimately chose places offering experiences they describe as “new, exciting, and relevant” for travelers right now.
Several hospitality projects appear prominently among this year’s selections. In Kenya, andBeyond Suyian Lodge was included for its location within the 44,000-acre Suyian Conservancy in northern Laikipia. The camp is the sole lodge within the protected area, which serves as a wildlife corridor linking Laikipia to the northern conservancies. Guests access the landscape through twice-daily game drives, guided walks, and horseback safaris, which regularly encounter species such as wild dogs and Grevy’s zebra.
In New Zealand, Flockhill earned recognition after evolving from a historic sheep station into a private alpine retreat. Set across 36,000 acres in the Craigieburn Valley of the Southern Alps, the property now combines the original four-bedroom homestead with seven contemporary villas, positioned to frame views across the surrounding mountains.
In the Maldives, Six Senses Laamu was cited for the scale of scientific research happening alongside the guest experience. The resort’s marine research center allows visitors to interact with scientists studying manta rays and coral ecosystems, and to participate in conservation-focused dives and fieldwork.
Beyond hotels, the list also highlights travel experiences and transportation projects shaping itineraries. Disney Destiny, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, began sailing in November and introduces a heroes-and-villains theme inspired by Marvel, Pixar, and Disney characters throughout the vessel. In Utah, Deer Valley Resort was recognized following a major terrain expansion, adding 2,900 acres of skiable terrain, nearly 100 new runs, nine chairlifts, and a three-mile gondola.
Time editors note that the list reflects a broad view of how travel continues to evolve across destinations and experiences. “Travel trends can shift quickly, of course, and global events can reshape itineraries,” editors wrote in the introduction. “Yet the impulse to explore endures.”
