The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has unveiled The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary, the new identity for its recently acquired retreat in Coorg, India. Set across 76 acres of forest and coffee plantations in the Western Ghats, the property is being positioned as one of the brand’s most nature-focused destinations.

Located within one of Coorg’s oldest coffee estates, the IGBC Platinum-certified retreat has 71 villas, including duplex, family, and private pool accommodations. The collection is topped by the four-bedroom Sunbeam Presidential Villa, which overlooks the surrounding forest. A seven-acre lake sits at the center of the estate, while a private helipad provides another arrival option for guests traveling within India.

“The unveiling of The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary represents an important milestone in our journey of creating destinations that are deeply rooted in their surroundings,” said Anuraag Bhatnagar, CEO of the company. “The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary reflects our belief that the most memorable luxury experiences are those that celebrate the unique character of a destination rather than simply existing within it.”

Programming draws heavily on Coorg’s forests, biodiversity, and coffee-growing heritage. Guests can take guided forest walks and plantation trails, go birdwatching, explore nearby waterfalls, or join cycling and stargazing experiences. The Estate to Brew experience delves into the region’s coffee culture through estate walks, tastings, and storytelling.

Dining includes Luma, a lakefront all-day restaurant focused on seasonal ingredients, and Pan-Asian restaurant Zen. The Cellar serves as a spot for drinks, while 92 Degrees centers on Coorg’s coffee heritage.

Wellness is another major focus. The resort’s 27,000-square-foot wellness center is home to Aujasya by The Leela, the company’s signature wellness program, with personalized therapies, yoga, and mindfulness offerings. Outdoor treatment areas and a Vinyasa Yoga Deck overlooking the lake extend the programming into the surrounding landscape.

The rebranding comes as The Leela marks its 40th anniversary and continues to expand its portfolio in India. The company currently operates or has in development 24 hotels across gateway cities and leisure destinations.
