1 Hotel’s newest property, 1 Hotel Austin, has officially opened reservations ahead of its official opening in August, marking the sustainable-focused brand’s first foray into the Lone Star State. The hotel is anchored within the 74-story Waterline tower, the state’s largest building, and is situated near Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin.

The property features 252 rooms and suites built on a “nature-led” philosophy, with reclaimed materials throughout, while floor-to-ceiling windows offer panoramic views of the city’s skyline and waterfront. Every detail of the guest experience is rooted in environmental stewardship, from the elimination of single-use plastics through in-room filtered-water taps to the “1 Less Thing” community donation program.

The hotel’s restaurant, Alteño Austin, is led by James Beard award-nominated Chef Johnny Curiel and offers his take on Mexican cuisine, drawing inspiration from his homeland in Jalisco’s Highlands. The hotel also features a Bamford Wellness Spa and a rooftop pool, all designed to offer a serene escape in the heart of the Rainey Street District.

This expansion follows a period of rapid global growth for the brand, which recently added several high-profile hotels to its portfolio. These include 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, redefining wellness luxury on Kauai, and the newly opened 1 Hotel Seattle, which brought the brand’s signature eco-friendly design to the Pacific Northwest in 2025.

In addition to the recently opened Tokyo property, the chain is currently planning hotels in Cabo San Lucas (Mexico), Paris, Elounda Hills (Crete), Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), San Miguel de Allende (Mexico), and New York’s Hudson Valley.
