Members of Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott’s loyalty program, will now be able to earn points when they are staying at Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties.

The properties, which are different from the properties that fall under the regular Ritz-Carlton umbrella, are in the collection of resorts because of their size and ability to offer a more intimate, personalized experience. Each one has somewhere between 50 and 115 rooms and caters to luxury guests looking for a personal connection.

Right now, Ritz-Carlton Reserve includes just five names—Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico; Higashiyama in Japan’ Mandapa in Bali, Indonesia; Phulay Bay in Thailand; and Zadun in Los Cabos, Mexico.

Before the announcement this week, guests staying at those properties were unable to earn Marriott Bonvoy points, despite the properties’ connection to the hotel company. Now, guests will earn points at those properties the same way they would at other Marriott properties. Bonvoy members can also now use their points to stay at those properties.

The news is another move by Marriott to add value to its Bonvoy membership. The program, at last count at the end of 2021, had more than 160 million members worldwide.

Most recently, Marriott announced it was giving Bonvoy members a chance to experience next month’s Monaco Grand Prix, one of Formula 1’s most iconic events, on a luxury yacht as part of its Bonvoy Moments platform. The platform allows guests who are members of Bonvoy, Marriott’s member-only travel membership program, to bid with points on experiences.

Aside from the F1 experience, Bonvoy Moments has a number of other packages available, including some centered on other iconic events like the 2022 NFL Draft, English Premier League Soccer, NHL Games, and Chef’s Table experience at some iconic venues. Each one is up for bidding over the next few weeks.
