Marriott has planted a new flag in North Africa with the launch of Le Méridien Casablanca, which officially opened its doors on July 1. The debut marks the brand’s first entry into Morocco and underscores Marriott’s growing commitment to the region, where it plans to add more than 50 properties by 2027.

Set in Casablanca’s Ain Sebaa district, a historically industrial area now seeing a cultural revival, the 145-room hotel blends mid-century European aesthetics with a distinctly Moroccan sense of place. Interiors have clean lines with warm textures and curated local artwork, while the rooftop lounge offers Atlantic Ocean views. On-site amenities include a spa rooted in traditional wellness rituals, an indoor pool, and nearly 10,000 square feet of flexible event space.

Food and beverage offerings reflect the brand’s culinary-forward ethos. Le Marché serves updated Moroccan and Mediterranean dishes, while Le Safran rotates globally inspired menus in an à la carte setting. Guests can also unwind at the Latitude bar with Illy coffee or gelato, or head upstairs to the rooftop for cocktails and city views.

In a nod to Casablanca’s creative spirit, the hotel is launching a dedicated arts program. Through its Unlock Art initiative, guests get access to local institutions such as L’Uzine, Villa des Arts, and the Musée Abderrahman Slaoui. The hotel also plans to participate in major city events, such as the Jazzablanca Festival and MADESIGN Expo, offering pop-ups, VIP lounges, and other programming designed to connect visitors with the local cultural scene.

The opening comes at an opportune moment: Morocco welcomed 8.9 million tourists in the first half of 2025, a 19% increase over the same period last year. While Marrakesh and Fes have long dominated travelers’ itineraries, Casablanca is emerging as a destination in its own right, offering a mix of business, art, and coastal appeal.

For advisors, the opening is a timely new option given the combination of an internationally recognized brand with cultural credibility, business-friendly infrastructure, and a style-driven experience.
