Malliouhana, the Anguilla icon credited with defining Caribbean luxury when it opened in 1984, has entered a new chapter: For the first time in its 41-year history, the resort is being led by a native Anguillian. Felix Pina, previously resort manager, has been promoted to general manager under Storey Hotel Management Group.
On an island where top hospitality roles are often held by expatriates, Pina’s appointment is a notable milestone. His career path traces the full arc of Anguilla’s luxury tourism story—from starting out as a beach attendant to becoming one of the most visible faces of one of the region’s most celebrated properties.
Pina spent more than a decade with Ani Villas, eventually overseeing its Dominican Republic property, before broadening his experience in London’s competitive restaurant scene. When Storey Hospitality tapped him to return home in 2023, he brought that global perspective back to Malliouhana. In just two years, he helped the resort garner industry accolades, including Travel + Leisure’s Top 500 and a #1 ranking in Anguilla, as well as Forbes’ nods for both best resort and best villas.
His influence has been felt across operations. Staff point to his emphasis on highly attentive service that still feels genuine, along with programming that gives visitors a deeper sense of Anguilla beyond the beaches. During his tenure, Malliouhana has also sharpened its culinary profile, with Bar Soleil earning international bar recognition and Celeste by Kerth Gumbs securing Wine Spectator honors for two consecutive years.
Pina’s promotion reflects Storey’s confidence in his leadership at a time when Anguilla is drawing both new competitors and more demanding travelers. For Malliouhana, choosing someone with both deep local roots and global experience helps the property stay true to its heritage while continuing to evolve.
For Anguilla more broadly, the appointment is a milestone. By elevating a homegrown leader to one of the island’s most prestigious posts, Malliouhana shows that the next generation of local talent is ready to guide its luxury hospitality forward.
