Regent Phu Quoc has appointed Juan Losada as general manager, bringing back a leader who helped shape the resort during its formative years. Losada steps into the role this month, returning to the beachfront property on Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island after several years in senior international hotel leadership.

Losada was part of the resort’s original executive team and served as pre-opening and opening general manager from early 2019 through late 2022, overseeing the strategy and operational setup ahead of the hotel’s April 2022 debut.

Regent Phu Quoc sits along Long Beach on the island’s southwest coast, adjacent to a UNESCO-designated World Biosphere Reserve. The property operates as a low-density beachfront resort with a mix of suites and villas, many with private pools, and a collection of dining venues, including its Japanese-French restaurant, Oku. Since opening, it has become one of the most visible luxury addresses on the island.

Losada brings more than 15 years of experience in luxury hospitality, with leadership roles across Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. His career has included managing hotels in markets such as Dubai and Barcelona, as well as overseeing complex, high-profile operations. One of his most notable assignments was coordinating logistics for the 2017 APEC summit in Vietnam, an event that hosted 21 heads of state and required large-scale, security-driven hospitality planning.

In his new role at Regent Phu Quoc, Losada will be responsible for overall operations, team leadership, and the continued refinement of the guest experience. His mandate includes strengthening day-to-day performance while guiding the resort through its next stage of maturity in a market that has become increasingly competitive at the high end.

Phu Quoc itself continues to evolve as a luxury leisure destination. Once known primarily for its natural landscape and regional tourism, the island has seen a steady rise in international-standard resorts, improved airlift, and expanded infrastructure over the past decade. Regent Phu Quoc was among the first wave of large-scale luxury openings, positioning the island as a serious contender for travelers comparing Southeast Asian beach destinations.

His appointment takes effect immediately.
