Mandarin Oriental has confirmed it will open its first hotel in Mallorca this spring, bringing a 131-key coastal resort to Punta Negra, just west of Puerto Portals in the municipality of Calvià. The property, set directly along the sea with access to two small coves, is scheduled to welcome its first guests later this year.
The resort sits on a quiet stretch of coastline about 20 minutes from Palma Airport, positioning it close enough to the island’s main luxury marinas and dining scene while staying removed from heavier traffic centers like Palma and Magaluf. For operators working with high-end Mediterranean itineraries, the resort’s location places the hotel within easy reach of yacht ports, private transfers, and helicopter access points commonly used for island-hopping in the Balearics.

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra will feature 131 rooms and suites, including 26 suites and nine casitas, as well as 19 rooms and suites with plunge pools and three rooftop suites with private pools. All accommodations face the Mediterranean, with interiors that lean into natural materials and local stonework. The hotel will also integrate curated art throughout guest rooms and public spaces, with a mix of Mallorcan and international artists.
The resort will introduce Matsuhisa by Nobu Matsuhisa and Leña by Dani García to this stretch of the island, alongside several additional concepts ranging from Mediterranean and Levantine all-day dining to Mexican cuisine and terrace-style tapas. A poolside venue and garden bar round out the food and beverage lineup.
Wellness will center on a signature Mandarin Oriental Spa with nine treatment rooms, including couple’s suites, plus indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, and thermal experiences such as steam rooms, cold plunges, and aromatherapy showers. The spa menu blends the brand’s established wellness approach with local traditions, including treatments inspired by Mallorcan herbal practices.

“Perched on the iconic Punta Negra—one of Mallorca’s most cherished coastal landmarks—Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra draws deeply from the island’s timeless spirit,” said general manager Duarte Correia. “Every corner of the resort pays tribute to its heritage: the tranquillity of the Mediterranean, the strength of its landscapes, its artisan traditions, and the warmth of its people.”
Food operations will be led by executive chef Sergio De La Plata, who emphasized the local sourcing focus behind the menus. “In our kitchen, we prioritise quality and locally sourced ingredients. Each dish tells a story—of the product, the producer, its origin and the surrounding landscape,” De La Plata said. “Inspired by the sea, the land and the simplicity of authentic flavours, we cook with respect and soul to delight and fully satisfy our guests.”
Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra is on track to open in the spring, marking the group’s first hotel presence on the island.
