Four Seasons has tapped a familiar face to lead one of its most storied resorts. Konrad Gstrein has returned to Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea as regional vice president and general manager, nearly 25 years after first joining the brand at the same property.

Gstrein began his Four Seasons journey on Maui in 2001 as assistant manager of guest services, a role that launched a global career at marquee addresses including Beverly Wilshire, Four Seasons Toronto, Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco, and, most recently, Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas. His move back to Hawaii marks a full-circle moment at a resort that remains a bellwether in the ultra-luxury resort category.

“Maui holds a special place in my heart—it’s where my journey with Four Seasons started, and where I learned what genuine aloha means,” he said. “Returning to lead this remarkable property and team is both humbling and exciting. I’m eager to build on the resort’s legacy while honouring the island’s culture and natural beauty.”

His remit includes continuing to refine the guest experience while keeping the resort grounded in its local rhythm. That means evolution without losing sight of the property’s soul, from service delivery to cultural connection. “Luxury hospitality is about creating deeply personal and memorable experiences,” he explained. “At Four Seasons Resort Maui, this means anticipating guest needs, delivering intuitive service, and honouring what makes this place truly special. Every touchpoint should reflect authenticity, excellence, and the spirit of aloha.”

Gstrein returns with his husband, Jason, and their yellow Lab, Cooper, ready to settle back into island life. For Maui’s high-end leisure scene, his appointment reinforces Four Seasons Maui as a flagship where leadership continuity and deep destination understanding remain as important as design refreshes and amenities.
