Hyatt confirmed a significant update to its luxury portfolio this week in Cannes, appointing Tamara Lohan as the brand’s interim global brand leader for luxury and detailing a series of planned openings across Park Hyatt, Miraval, Alila, and the Unbound Collection by Hyatt in 2026.

Lohan joined Hyatt in 2023 through its acquisition of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, bringing more than two decades of experience curating independent and design-led properties. Her remit now spans the direction of Hyatt’s global luxury brand strategy and portfolio consistency. “When Hyatt acquired Mr. & Mrs. Smith, it was clear how deeply Hyatt respects independent spirit, design integrity, and the craft of luxury,” she said. “It’s a privilege to help shape the future of what luxury means for Hyatt, and I’m excited to develop the brands in our portfolio and take our guests on even more personal experiences whilst thoughtfully growing the collection.”

Mark Hoplamazian, Hyatt’s president and CEO, framed the appointment as central to the division’s next phase. “Tamara brings world-class luxury expertise, and her leadership will further strengthen our ability to differentiate our luxury brands while growing with intent in the markets our guests and owners value most,” he said.

Hyatt currently oversees nearly 125 luxury hotels totaling more than 21,000 rooms. Confirmed openings for 2026 reflect a focus on high-demand destinations and the return of several flagship properties. Park Hyatt Tokyo will reopen this month following its renovation, while new projects include Park Hyatt Cabo del Sol, Park Hyatt Cancun, Park Hyatt Mexico City, Park Hyatt Vancouver, and Park Hyatt Phu Quoc. Alila plans to expand in Mexico with Alila Mayakoba, and the Unbound Collection by Hyatt will add Kennedy 89 in Frankfurt.

One of the most detailed updates was reserved for Miraval, which will debut internationally with Miraval The Red Sea in the first quarter of 2026. Positioned on Shura Island, the adults-only property will include 180 guestrooms and suites and one of the region’s largest spa facilities. The wider resort destination is part of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea development and is accessible via the new international airport serving the archipelago.

“This winter marks a defining moment in Hyatt’s luxury growth story, as the Miraval brand debuts on the international stage in the Red Sea, a sanctuary for wellbeing explorers and discerning adventurers alike spanning over 3 million square feet of pristine coastline and offering one of the largest spas in the region with 40,000 square feet and 39 treatment rooms,” said Marc Jacheet, the group president for Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Hyatt reports more than 170 hotels in its overall luxury pipeline, representing approximately 141,000 rooms.
