IHG is bringing its luxury lifestyle brand Kimpton to the cultural heart of Bali. Slated to open in early 2026, Kimpton Bali Ubud will be the brand’s first property in the country—and IHG’s first hotel in the artistic, spiritual center of Ubud.
Developed in partnership with PT Mustika Adiperkasa and GHS K.K., the 101-key hotel will sit along the sacred Wos River within walking distance of the Ubud Palace. In Bali, where branded coastal resorts increasingly dominate the market, Kimpton’s move into Ubud sets it apart, catering to travelers looking to split their time between both beach and inland stays.
The new property will include three restaurants, a café, a spa, a fitness center, and a pool. Anchoring the culinary program is Imamura, a fine-dining Japanese restaurant led by Chef Hirofumi Imamura, whose Hong Kong restaurant, Kazuo Okada, received a Michelin star.
For advisors catering to high-net-worth clients, the Kimpton Bali Ubud opens new product potential. “We have seen a rise of travelers to Bali choosing to split their stay across different parts of Bali to seek varied experiences—from the beaches of the south to the hilly regions of the north,” said Rajit Sukumaran, the senior vice-president and managing director for East Asia and Pacific at IHG Hotels & Resorts. “Kimpton Bali Ubud will offer that unique experience.”
The announcement comes amid a banner period for Bali’s hospitality sector. Hotel occupancy soared to 75% in 2024, and Bali also ranked No. 2 in Tripadvisor’s 2025 list of Top Global Destinations, as well as claiming the top spot for Culture Destinations.
Kimpton Bali Ubud will join IHG’s growing collection of luxury and lifestyle hotels across Indonesia, which includes the recent Regent Bali Canggu and Six Senses Uluwatu. The group now counts 31 open properties in Indonesia, with 11 more in the pipeline.
