JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa has officially opened the reimagined Spa at Camelback Inn, completing a $25 million transformation of its wellness centerpiece.
The 32,000-square-foot spa, which first opened in 1989, reopens this month with expanded indoor and outdoor facilities, a redesigned treatment program, and new culinary and fitness components, creating a full-day wellness destination within the resort.
Located at the base of Camelback and Mummy Mountains in Paradise Valley, the spa sits within one of the Phoenix area’s most established luxury resort corridors, roughly 20 minutes from Scottsdale Airport and about half an hour from Phoenix Sky Harbor. The setting remains a key draw here, with mountain views now deliberately integrated throughout the spa’s redesigned interiors and outdoor areas.

The renovation was led by DesignOne Studio in collaboration with EDG, with the architecture and interiors centered on natural stone, limewashed plaster, and desert-toned materials that blur the indoor-outdoor boundary. The arrival sequence opens into a limestone-clad lobby with ceramic cactus sculptures by Southern California artist Dustin Gimbel, alongside additional ceramic works from Mexican artist Charabati Bizzarri behind the reception desk. Custom furniture, agave-fiber lighting installations, and a dedicated scent-and-sound program extend throughout the space.
At the heart of the new spa is a custom wellness circuit that guides guests through heat and cold experiences, including a Himalayan salt sauna, aromatherapy steam, cold therapy zones, infrared loungers, and an 18-person vitality pool set beneath floor-to-ceiling windows facing Camelback Mountain. Adjacent relaxation areas include a co-ed Sanctuary lounge and a Stillness Lounge equipped with Mind-Sync Harmonic wellness loungers, weighted blankets, and noise-canceling headphones.
Outdoor wellness facilities debut later this month with Wellness Waters, a three-pool hydrotherapy circuit featuring a main pool, a salt pool, and a cold plunge, all fully outdoors. The Villa, a private pool suite, accommodates up to 10 guests and features a double treatment room, a heated vitality pool, and a private lounge patio.

The spa now houses 20 treatment rooms, including three double suites, with services organized into four wellness “pathways,” including detox, soothe, harmonize, and restore. Each pathway pairs treatments with optional activities such as guided hikes, breathwork, sound baths, or movement sessions.
“With deep respect for our heritage and excitement for the future, we’re honored to debut this fully reimagined spa experience,” said Richard Romane, the resort’s general manager. “The Spa at Camelback Inn’s transformation reflects a renewed commitment to providing a meaningful, personalized, and deeply restorative environment.”
Supporting the spa is a new Wellness Studio offering daily programming and a redesigned 24-hour fitness center with Technogym equipment and Peloton bikes. Ora Café, led by newly appointed restaurant chef Jennifer Mikhaiel, anchors the culinary component with an all-day menu focused on protein-forward dishes, bowls, and wellness beverages, many using ingredients from the resort’s on-site JW Garden.
The Spa at Camelback Inn is now open, with outdoor wellness elements rolling out throughout February.
