Anantara Siam Bangkok Completes $50 Million Transformation
The landmark Bangkok hotel’s $50 million renovation introduces redesigned accommodations, private pool villas, and expanded wellness facilities.

Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel has completed a $50 million renovation that refreshed all 335 accommodations and introduced new suites, upgraded wellness facilities, and redesigned event spaces.
The hotel, which opened in 1983, retained many of the architectural and artistic details that have long distinguished the property. Its restoration followed the theme “Transformed. Timeless. Thai,” pairing contemporary interiors with elements drawn from Thailand’s artistic traditions.
Among the features preserved is the 328-foot hand-painted mural crowning the lobby. Created by Thai muralist Paiboon Suwannakudt, the artwork depicts Thai culture and craftsmanship, while 19 accompanying ceiling panels illustrate the “Heavens in Thai Thought.”
All guest rooms, suites, and villas have been remodeled with teak wood, handcrafted details, silk accents, and residential-style color palettes. Bathrooms now feature marble finishes, custom vanities, updated lighting, and contemporary fixtures.
New accommodations include the Anantara garden pool suites and villas, private retreats set within the hotel’s tropical gardens. Each offers a private pool and indoor-outdoor living space while keeping guests close to Bangkok’s principal shopping, business, and cultural districts.
The new two-bedroom Jim Thompson Explorer Suite, created through a partnership with the celebrated Thai silk brand, takes its cues from a traditional Thai summer home. Polished teak floors, painted paneled walls and curated artwork appear alongside an open-plan living and dining area and a private library.
The renovation also covered Anantara Spa and the Siam Sports Club. The club now includes a Technogym fitness center, Pilates studio and outdoor training area with a Muay Thai boxing ring, rock-climbing wall and functional fitness zone. The Grand Ballroom and additional meeting and event venues were redesigned and equipped with updated technology.
Dining remains a major component of the hotel, with nine restaurants and bars spanning Thai, Italian, Japanese and South American cuisines. Venues include Spice Market, Biscotti, Shintaro, Madison Steak Avenue, and Guilty Bangkok, as well as Aqua Bar, which has appeared on Asia’s 50 Best Bars list.
