Le Sereno will reopen for the season on Nov. 16 following a three-year renovation project that includes redesigned accommodations, new tropical gardens, updated pool areas, and a new beach club, BOKAO.
Owners Luis and Angelica Contreras led the work at the all-suite hotel on St. Barth’s Grand Cul-de-Sac. The couple, who collaborated with Christian Liaigre on Le Sereno’s original design and later developed Il Sereno on Lake Como, focused on adding privacy and expanding outdoor living spaces. “Over time, we felt that both Le Sereno and our vision for it had reached a new level of maturity,” said Luis.
Every accommodation has been redone, with new planting giving each suite its own garden setting. Waterfront suites also feature shaded outdoor areas beneath canopies designed by Patricia Urquiola. The most substantial addition is the one-bedroom Suite des Pêcheurs, a 2,400-square-foot retreat with two bathrooms, indoor and outdoor living areas, a private pool and a gate opening directly onto the beach. Urquiola furnishings and an open-plan bathroom with a sculptural Cenote bathtub complete the suite.

Urquiola also worked on the main pool area, where updates include a conversation pit, outdoor lounges, seafront cabanas, a new pool bar, and loungers.
The landscaping project, developed with creative direction from Denys Ridrimont, introduces a coconut-palm entrance and a collection of tropical plants and rare trees. The hotel also worked with local authorities and the island’s nature reserve on beachfront restoration. Guests can explore the protected lagoon using complimentary transparent-bottom kayaks and custom stand-up paddleboards.
Dining options now include BOKAO, a beach club on a newly acquired adjoining beachfront property, with an emphasis on relaxed waterfront meals and long lunches. It joins Le Sereno Al Mare, which continues to serve contemporary Italian dishes, including lobster spaghetti, in a redesigned beachfront setting.
Spa Le Sereno retains its Valmont treatments, available in treatment rooms, guests’ suites, or the renovated waterfront pavilion, now paved with Orosei stone.
The hotel lists rates ranging from $1,700 to $20,000. Reservations are available through Le Sereno.
