Marriott International has signed an agreement with Sun Group to develop 10 hotels and resorts across Vietnam, the brand announced last week, adding nearly 4,500 keys across Phu Quoc and Vung Tau, with openings scheduled between 2026 and 2030. The deal introduces two brands to the country, W Hotels and Moxy Hotels.

Seven of the properties will be concentrated on Phu Quoc, where Sun Group is developing multiple large-scale, mixed-use projects. At Ruby Beach in the island’s south, an 218-acre site will anchor five hotels: W Phu Quoc (526 keys), Phu Quoc Marriott Resort & Spa (826 keys), The Westin Phu Quoc (527 keys), Le Méridien Phu Quoc (432 keys), and Courtyard by Marriott Phu Quoc (300 keys), all expected to open in 2027. Nearby on Hon Thom Island, accessible via cable car, Moxy Phu Quoc Hon Thom (501 keys) and Fairfield by Marriott Phu Quoc Hon Thom (353 keys) are scheduled to open in 2026.

The Phu Quoc developments are set around existing infrastructure and attractions, including the Hon Thom cable car system, theme parks, and waterfront entertainment areas such as Sunset Town. The island is also slated to host APEC in 2027, which will drive near-term demand for new inventory.

“Vietnam is one of the world’s most dynamic markets for travel and tourism, so we are thrilled to be able to announce these 10 new hotels and resorts in collaboration with Sun Group,” said Rajeev Menon, president for Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC) at Marriott International. “Marriott’s portfolio in Vietnam has doubled since 2022, as we cater to record numbers of international travelers and rising demand from domestic guests seeking world-class accommodation.”

Three additional hotels are planned for Vung Tau, a coastal city southeast of Ho Chi Minh City that is seeing increased development tied to improved access infrastructure. These projects—Vung Tau Marriott Hotel (300 keys), Moxy Vung Tau (350 keys), and Four Points by Sheraton Vung Tau (350 keys)—are expected to open in 2030 as part of the Blanca City development, close to the new Long Thanh International Airport.

“We are thrilled to announce this landmark agreement with Marriott International, as we continue with our mission to transform Vietnam into a global leader for travel, tourism, hospitality, and MICE,” said Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of Sun Group.

Marriott currently operates 32 properties across 11 brands in Vietnam, with more than 50 additional projects in the pipeline.
