Nobu Hospitality has unveiled new details for Nobu Beach Inn Barbuda, a forthcoming hotel and residential project within The Beach Club, Barbuda, a low-density resort community on the island’s southwest coast. Construction is underway, with completion targeted for late 2026, to expand Nobu’s presence beyond the Nobu Barbuda restaurant and beach lounge, which debuted on Princess Diana Beach in 2020.
The development spans roughly 400 acres and two miles of beachfront, introducing a 36-bedroom retreat comprising 17 individual villas, each a single-story bungalow integrated into the surrounding landscape. Amenities will include a beach club, an oceanfront pool, indoor and outdoor spas, an outdoor cinema, a kids’ club, a gym pavilion, and racquet facilities featuring both tennis and padel courts. Dining will extend beyond the existing Nobu restaurant with an oceanfront grill focused on local seafood and an omakase sushi venue.
Robert De Niro, who co-founded Nobu Hospitality and has been involved in the Barbuda project for decades, described the concept as rooted in the island’s natural environment. “Since I first stepped foot on Barbuda, I knew it was special. We wanted to create a place that’s comfortable, where everyone wants to gather and embrace the essence of the island. The Nobu Beach Inn is designed to complement its surroundings while maintaining the landscape’s natural beauty,” he said.
The hotel forms part of a broader mixed-use plan developed in partnership with James Packer and Daniel Shamoon. Alongside the inn, the project will introduce 25 beachfront residences starting from $12 million. Each home will feature four- or five-bedroom bungalow layouts with private pools and gardens, as well as optional participation in a rental program tied to the hotel’s operations.
Design plans emphasize low-rise architecture and natural materials, with sand pathways connecting villas across landscaped grounds. Programming is expected to include rotating culinary and wellness activations led by visiting chefs, DJs, and fitness practitioners, along with a water sports center offering sailing, kiteboarding, scuba diving, and access to motor yachts for inter-island cruising.
Access to Barbuda has improved in recent years, particularly with the opening of Burton Nibbs International Airport in October 2024, allowing direct private jet arrivals. Travelers arriving via Antigua’s V.C. Bird International Airport can reach the property by helicopter in roughly 10 minutes, positioning the destination within about three hours of Miami and four hours of New York or Toronto.
Nobu Beach Inn Barbuda represents one of the brand’s more intimate hospitality projects to date, combining a limited-key hotel with branded residences in a remote Caribbean setting. With construction progressing across the site, the opening is expected to follow in late 2026 as the next phase of development within The Beach Club, Barbuda.
