Nobu Toronto Review: A Smart Pick for Discreet Luxury Travelers

On June 1, Toronto welcomed the first Nobu property in Canada, a highly anticipated opening that Torontonians and Canadians had long awaited.

Best known globally for its acclaimed restaurants, Nobu’s boutique hotels have quietly cultivated a devoted following. The concept stays true to the brand: Each hotel is anchored by a Nobu restaurant and designed to feel intimate, exclusive, sleek, and minimalist. The newly opened Nobu Toronto marks the brand’s 20th hotel worldwide, its first in Canada, and its first-ever multi-purpose development. Rising within a striking 45-story tower that houses a hotel, residences, and a restaurant in the heart of the Entertainment District, this brand-new property embodies discretion, quiet luxury, and privacy.

The Nobu lobby is very private and discreet.

From the moment you arrive, it’s clear that Nobu Toronto is unlike any other hotel in Canada’s busiest city. The discreet entrance is intentionally understated, and the lobby feels more like stepping into a lavish private living room than a typical hotel.

To preserve this sense of exclusivity, guests are encouraged to use the hotel’s complimentary car service from the airport or train station. Lobby access is secured 24/7—entry is keycard-only, and all arrivals are scheduled in advance. It’s the perfect setting for those seeking discretion and privacy.

Above all, this brand-new property is designed for guests who value seclusion, sophistication, and personalized service.

Rooms & Suites

In a city like Toronto, known for its micro-condos, Nobu’s 36 rooms and suites—located on floors 41 to 45—are a breath of fresh air. Designed by local firm Studio Munge (also behind successful Park Hyatt and Bisha Toronto), the spaces feature warm neutral tones, floor-to-ceiling windows, and open-plan layouts that exude quiet sophistication. Room categories varies from Deluxe King or Double (450 square feet) to Junior Suites (approximately 550 square feet) or One-Bedroom Suites (900 square feet).

The spa-inspired bathrooms are a highlight, featuring heated floors, double stone vanities, Japanese Toto toilets, rainfall showers, and Nobu’s signature deep-soaking wooden tubs, placed beside the window, allowing guests to unwind while taking in city views.

The attention to detail here is key: Every bathroom features a Dyson Airwrap and hair dryer; the walk-in closet offers your choice of a classic bathrobe or a Japanese kimono—both are available; and guests can even borrow shoes and athletic gear through a partnership with Alo. Rooms are also stocked with yoga mats and blocks, along with a complimentary minibar featuring local sweet and savory snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, refillable upon request. Premium alcohol and wines are available for an additional fee.

Food & Drink

Naturally, the main draw is the restaurant, and Nobu Toronto delivers. Hotel guests enjoy exclusive internal access and priority table reservations. Even on a Tuesday night two weeks after opening, the restaurant was buzzing.

Expect the Nobu staples—crispy rice, tuna pizza, and Chef Nobu’s famed miso black cod—alongside Toronto-specific creations. Guests can choose to sit at the elegant sushi counter (11 seats) or the spacious dining room (55 seats), where attentive, seamless service matches the Nobu standards.

For a more relaxed vibe, the bar area extends outdoors. But the true centerpiece is indoors, in the main dining room: A 28-foot bronze Lasvit chainmail chandelier, designed to mimic the folds of a Japanese kimono, is suspended above the double-height bar. Handcrafted Kawara Japanese roof tiles line the pillars, adding warmth and texture.

In-room dining is available 24/7, including Nobu restaurant favorites and more casual classics like Caesar salads and burgers—a thoughtful option for longer stays or late-night cravings.

Breakfast is complimentary and served à la carte in the guest-exclusive lounge. Expect a rotating menu of house-made pastries, muesli, overnight oats, and standout ricotta pancakes. Guests are welcome to order as much as they like, and all items are prepared fresh daily. In-room breakfast is also available.

But no matter where—or what—you choose to eat, food is central to the Nobu Toronto experience, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Experiences & Amenities

For a boutique property of only 36 rooms, the fitness and wellness offerings at Nobu Toronto are expansive. The gym takes up nearly a full floor and is visually striking, blending preserved heritage glass bricks with modern oak paneling and soft lighting.

Guests can expect top-tier equipment, like TechnoGym machines, Peloton bikes, and Forme mirrors; access to Frame Fitness reformers—the world’s first digitally connected reformers; Zen details like eucalyptus towels, yoga mats, free weights, hydration stations with fresh fruit and energy bars; and premium athletic wear available for rental.

A treatment room can also be booked for body and facial treatments, arrangements have to be made in advance.

Sustainability & Accessibility

Accessible rooms are available within the Deluxe King category. Offering 410 square feet of living space, these rooms feature Nobu’s signature Japanese spa-inspired bathroom, a stone vanity with a Japanese Toto toilet, and a luxurious rainfall shower with views of the Toronto skyline.

Location & Access

Situated on Mercer Street in a brand-new tower, Nobu Toronto now stands as the tallest luxury building in the city. The location is unbeatable—just steps from the Rogers Centre, the Toronto waterfront, and a short ride from either Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (just minutes away) or Pearson International Airport (about 30 minutes). Once on site, everything is within walking distance but guests are encouraged to use the complimentary car service. Nearby, you’ll find other top hotels like Le Germain and the Bisha Hotel—both also designed by Studio Munge—but Nobu’s emphasis on privacy truly sets it apart.

How to Book Smart

Nobu Toronto has been invited to join the Virtuoso Preview Program and is now partnering with all Virtuoso agencies. Bookings can be made via the GDS platform or by contacting Katy Elliott, the property’s in-house sales manager.

Furthermore, to celebrate its debut, Nobu Hotel Toronto is offering a special summer package that includes daily full breakfast in the Sakura Lounge, a $100–$200 property credit for select rooms, valet parking, a room upgrade (subject to availability), a guaranteed dinner reservation, and a welcome amenity.
