It is no secret that the W brand is undergoing a significant rebranding. The luxury lifestyle brand within Marriott’s portfolio evolved alongside its clientele, becoming more mature and moving away from the party-centric reputation it cultivated a decade ago. The new W brand is now focused on personalized service, luxury amenities, and a strong food-and-beverage offering that sits at the center of the experience.
Beyond that, W properties located in destination markets, such as W Punta de Mita and now W Punta Cana, are also introducing something new. In August 2025, W Punta Cana opened as the first W property worldwide to operate exclusively on an all-inclusive model. While other W properties have recently begun offering all-inclusive options, this property is entirely built around the concept.
I visited during a recent trip to the Dominican Republic—a destination that, let’s not forget, pioneered the all-inclusive resort concept and has built much of its tourism marketing around that segment—and the result did not disappoint. The property effortlessly combines the W brand’s pillars with the well-established all-inclusive experience the Dominican Republic is known for.

The brand-new, adults-only, all-inclusive W Punta Cana is set in an untouched part of the Dominican Republic, midway between Punta Cana International Airport and Michès, the country’s emerging luxury destination currently under development.
The resort’s location was carefully chosen to set it apart from Punta Cana’s sprawling resort complexes. But while the property offers a fundamentally different experience from what the destination has traditionally been known for, it remains close enough to benefit from the region’s established tourism infrastructure and strong reputation.
“Punta Cana has long been known for its large all-inclusive resorts, so launching the first all-inclusive W property here made sense,” explained Luz Alvarado, the property’s director of marketing, to Luxury Travel Report. “At the same time, the product we are offering is much more elevated, which is why we chose a site closer to Michès, the new destination being developed for the luxury segment in the country. This allows us to benefit from the strong airlift connections and the tourism infrastructure already in place, while still aiming to offer something different.”
Upon arrival, you are immediately struck by the impressive open-air lobby. The hotel is unmistakably W, featuring the brand’s signature elements such as the iconic W sign, the Living Room lobby bar, Wheels for valet service, and Wet, the pool deck. Guests will also find luxury amenities, à la carte restaurants, a speakeasy bar, and a lavish rooftop venue. The difference, however, is that it is either all or almost all included.
Here’s what else luxury travel advisors should know about booking W Punta Cana:
Why Travel Advisors Book It
- Dining options are more than satisfying, with six à la carte restaurants and four bars that rival the quality and atmosphere of those found in major cities.
- The resort is adults-only, making it an excellent choice for clients seeking a more laid-back and refined environment.
- The wellness program is extensive, featuring daily fitness classes and a massive state-of-the-art spa.
- The resort offers suite-only accommodations, many with swim-up pools, as well as villas with up to three bedrooms.

Rooms & Suites
W Punta Cana is an all-suite property featuring 340 rooms and villas. One detail worth noting: each room is equipped with either one or two king-size beds featuring pillow-top mattresses and goose-down duvets. For travelers sharing a room with a friend, this means each guest can have their own king-size bed—a rare feature in the hotel world. And perhaps most importantly, the beds are exceptionally comfortable.
The entry-level room offers 700 square feet and includes a private outdoor area, a sitting area, and a modern bathroom with a standalone bathtub and Davines amenities. The layout feels both spacious and highly functional.
The design is simple, yet highly effective. Traditionally, in a tropical destination, you might expect a more beach-inspired aesthetic, but W Punta Cana takes a different approach. The rooms have an almost retro feel, with curved headboards, eclectic carpeting, and bronze accents throughout. In the bathrooms, blue or copper tiles define the space, paired with standalone bathtubs and walk-in showers. The blue accents and curves are meant to reflect Uvero Alto, the untouched stretch of coastline where the hotel sits.
Speaking of the beach, one thing to keep in mind is that only select suites and the villas offer direct beach views and beach access, as they are located within the property’s two beachfront buildings. The 11 villas range from 3,130 to 3,626 square feet, each offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. All villas are also equipped with a full kitchen and a private plunge pool on the oceanfront terrace, and range from one to three bedrooms.

Food & Drink
The food and beverage offering is definitely the highlight of W Punta Cana. The experience feels like staying at a boutique property, but without ever having to carry your wallet or wait for the bill. Not to forget, the hotel’s motto is: no check, no children, no compromise. And it’s pretty much straight on.
Most of the restaurants and bars are concentrated in an area called The Plaza, which feels like strolling through a charming little strip in a cozy town.
Nearly all of the dining venues are located side by side along this strip, making it easy to browse and decide what you feel like eating each evening. I especially appreciated the flexibility: reservations are recommended, but not required, allowing guests to simply go with the flow—which, arguably, is exactly what defines a luxury vacation.
Among my favorites was the Noodle Bar, serving Asian-inspired specialties including ramen, udon, and pad thai. The Rooftop, with its panoramic 360-degree views of both the mountains and the beach, offers a concise menu of sushi and maki. Other dining options include Scena, which serves Caribbean cuisine; Taman, a Mediterranean restaurant located on the beach; Taproom, a sports bar offering burgers and beers; and a speakeasy-style bar where guests can also play arcade games.
But the venue where I spent the most time was the Café, which operates almost 24 hours a day as a grab-and-go concept serving coffee, ice cream, pastries, sandwiches, salads, and quick bites. It is a genuinely smart concept. Sometimes you simply do not feel like sitting down for a full meal, and having this option available at virtually any hour of the day was incredibly convenient and much appreciated. Room service is also available 24/7, and The Market, the hotel’s buffet, serves three meals a day.
The key takeaway is simple: the options are (almost) endless, varied, and the food quality is consistently strong at W Punta Cana. I never got tired of eating there because there was always something or somewhere new to try—and that was genuinely impressive.

Wellness & Fitness
Because W Punta Cana is an adults-only property, wellness is a core pillar of the experience. Guests come here either to reconnect with themselves or simply to unwind.
The resort has a dedicated fitness room that hosts daily classes, including yoga, spinning, and HIIT, as well as a 24/7 fitness center equipped with Life Fitness machines, rowing equipment, and free weights.
The spa itself is worth the trip. Massive and spanning three levels, it is a true oasis. It features a beauty bar offering nail and hair services, as well as 10 treatment rooms dedicated to massages, including deep-tissue, Swedish, hot-stone, and aromatherapy. Guests can also choose from anti-aging and detoxifying facials, as well as a variety of body wraps.
The wellness facilities also include a therapeutic pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and dedicated relaxation areas designed for rest and recovery. Missing it during your stay would almost be a mistake. The space is impeccable, and the quality of the services truly stands out.

Amenities & Features
W Punta Cana offers two distinct pool experiences. At a family-friendly resort, that division would typically be between adults-only and family areas, but here the distinction is more about the atmosphere guests seek.
The main pool is stunning, facing the ocean and creating an infinity effect that blends seamlessly with the horizon. Connected to Taman restaurant, guests can enjoy poké bowls, colorful salads, and cocktails while taking in the lively atmosphere. The main pool area offers nearly nonstop entertainment throughout the afternoon, with interactive games, DJs, and activities creating high-energy vibes.
If that energy becomes a little too much at some point, the Chill Pool may be a better fit. There is no music and no distractions. It is intentionally quiet, and you may find yourself preferring it. The good news is that both experiences are available, depending on your mood.
The beach is also one of the resort’s highlights. Because the property sits on the Atlantic coast, there are both advantages and disadvantages. One of the biggest advantages, however, is the almost complete absence of sargassum, an issue that has significantly affected tourism in destinations such as the Dominican Republic.
For comparison, I visited another property about an hour south on the Caribbean side, and the seaweed situation there was significant. As someone who loves the beach, I know that being able to genuinely enjoy it while on vacation matters. The beach at W Punta Cana may be a little rougher (with small waves and some current), but not overwhelmingly so. It also feels more untouched than many others, giving it a raw quality rather than a perfectly manicured one.
In a world where everything can sometimes feel overly polished, I appreciated its rawness and authenticity. I was able to swim and walk for miles along the shoreline. Forget about snorkeling, paddleboarding, or perfectly flat, calm waters—but in return, you get a beach that can be enjoyed year-round. Pick your poison, as they say—and for me, it will always be the ocean.

Location & Access
W Punta Cana is located approximately 90 minutes from the Punta Cana International Airport. The hotel can arrange private transportation, and guests can also rent a car or take a taxi.
It is worth noting that the property is located in a relatively untouched area within a newly developed section of the destination. The secluded setting is part of its appeal, but it also means there is very little nearby. Once you arrive, the resort largely becomes the destination itself.
You may also want to consider organizing tours and activities through the resort, as the hotel works exclusively with DMC Connect, which operates on-site.

How to Book Smart
W Punta Cana is part of the Marriott Bonvoy program and is available to book across all major GDS platforms.
The hotel is also currently offering a special opening promotion that includes a complimentary 50-minute spa massage.
