The luxury hotel boom along Mexico’s Caribbean coast continues with the debut of the St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort, Cancún, a new beachfront property that brings one of Marriott International’s most prestigious brands to the fast-growing enclave just north of Cancún.

Set between the Caribbean Sea and protected mangroves near the ancient Maya site of El Meco, the resort features 213 accommodations, including 163 guestrooms and 50 suites, all designed to emphasize indoor-outdoor living with views across the coastline. The project further cements Costa Mujeres as one of the Riviera Maya’s fastest-growing luxury destinations, attracting travelers looking for a quieter alternative to Cancún’s Hotel Zone while remaining within easy reach of the airport.

Designed by Mexican architecture firm Sordo Madaleno, the resort draws heavily on the Yucatán Peninsula’s cultural heritage. References to Maya mythology and craftsmanship appear throughout the property, from stonework inspired by El Meco to lighting that nods to deities Ixchel and Itzamná. Natural materials, woven textures, handcrafted details, and artwork by regional artisans reinforce the connection to place without overwhelming the contemporary aesthetic.

The culinary program is equally ambitious, with nine restaurants and bars spanning Mexican, Caribbean, and international influences. Highlights include Costa Coral, which offers modern interpretations of traditional Mexican cuisine; Fish Market, centered on local seafood; Palmare Grill for beachfront dining; and Shami, a rooftop restaurant blending Japanese techniques with ingredients sourced from the Mexican Caribbean.

Butler service is included with every stay, along with the brand’s hallmark afternoon tea and evening Champagne sabrage ceremony. The resort has also developed destination-specific programming, including sunrise ceremonies, artisan workshops, and coral reef restoration excursions designed to introduce guests to the region’s natural and cultural heritage.

Wellness is anchored by The St. Regis Spa, which features a hydrotherapy circuit, 16 treatment suites, and therapies that incorporate traditional Mexican ingredients. Additional amenities include an oceanfront infinity pool, fitness center overlooking the Caribbean, a Kids Club, and nearly 9,700 square feet of event space for weddings and celebrations.
