Westin Hotels & Resorts has officially unveiled The Westin Nirup Island Resort & Spa, Batam, bringing its signature pillars of well-being to a private island in Indonesia’s Riau Archipelago. The 250-key retreat, just a 20-minute ferry ride from Singapore’s Harbourfront Terminal, marks a major new entry into Southeast Asia’s luxury leisure segment and signals growing regional interest in immersive wellness-driven travel.
Spanning the entire island of Nirup, the resort blends tranquil natural surroundings with Westin’s holistic programming, including everything from sunrise yoga to personalized spa treatments and oceanfront fitness sessions. On-site customs and immigration, private yacht docking, and a marina designed for direct Singapore connections make for seamless arrivals.

“This resort is designed as an enriching haven where guests can optimize their well-being and achieve balance amidst the tranquility of nature,” said Ramesh Jackson, Marriott International’s regional vice-president for Indonesia and Malaysia.
The development includes 94 rooms and 52 villas—some with sweeping views of the Singapore skyline. Cultural inspiration comes through in the architecture, which nods to the indigenous Orang Laut community, while clusters of villas offer built-in privacy for multigenerational groups or couples seeking seclusion.
Dining plays a central role in the guest journey, with four distinct concepts: Island Kitchen for interactive all-day dining, Salt Simply Seafood for ocean-to-table coastal fare, and Constellate Pool Bar for a rooftop perch with panoramic sunset views.

Wellness amenities go far beyond spa menus: the Heavenly Spa by Westin has tailored treatments in oceanview rooms, while the WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio includes Technogym equipment, Bala gear, and Hyperice recovery kits. For guests who want to unplug outdoors, guided treks, water sports, and yoga on the beach are available.
The resort also caters to business and events with a 4,800-square-foot ballroom, three flexible meeting spaces, and dedicated wedding venues with uninterrupted sea views.
Led by general manager Manoj Rawat, the property hopes to become a go-to for both regional wellness travelers and international guests. “We look forward to creating memories with our guests and becoming a cherished destination for travelers seeking a meaningful experience,” said Rawat.
