Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has appointed Thomas Krooswijk as general manager of both of its Istanbul properties, placing him in charge of the Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at the Bosphorus and the Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet. The appointment is effective immediately, with Krooswijk already based in the city.

It’s a rare kind of assignment—and these two hotels make it even more distinctive. The Bosphorus property sits right on the water in a restored 19th-century palace, offering a resort-like feel within the city. Across town, the Sultanahmet hotel is housed in a former Ottoman prison building in the heart of the historic district, just steps from Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. Together, they give Four Seasons a footprint that spans both Istanbul’s waterfront and its cultural core.

Krooswijk brings more than two decades with Four Seasons to the role. He joined the company in 2001 and has since built a career across operations and food and beverage leadership, with postings in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Amman, and, most recently, Marrakech, where he served as general manager. Earlier in his career, he held hotel manager roles in Amman and Toronto and senior food and beverage positions at the Beverly Wilshire, a Four Seasons Hotel.

In Istanbul, his remit is to keep both hotels aligned on service standards while letting each property stay true to its own rhythm. The Bosphorus hotel caters largely to longer leisure stays and waterfront escapes, while Sultanahmet draws culturally focused travelers on tighter, landmark-driven itineraries.

Four Seasons has not announced any changes tied to the appointment, with the focus remaining on continuity across both properties. Krooswijk has officially assumed the role, stepping into a dual-hotel brief that puts him at the center of the brand’s presence in one of its most visible European markets.
