Explora Journeys is taking an unorthodox approach to launching its newest ship. Before Explora III’s official maiden journey next August, the MSC Group’s luxury brand will offer a select group of guests a rare preview sailing—an insider look at the vessel’s design, leadership, and evolving philosophy.
The five-night “Mediterranean Prelude to Explora III,” running July 24–29, 2026, will sail from Genoa to Civitavecchia (Rome), calling in Marseille, Saint-Tropez, Villefranche-sur-Mer, and Livorno. The itinerary mirrors the line’s broader Mediterranean focus but is designed as a behind-the-scenes immersion rather than a standard sailing. Guests will have the chance to meet the company’s leadership team, including designers and officers, for discussions and onboard events that reveal how Explora’s “Ocean State of Mind” ethos is being reinterpreted aboard the new ship.
“This exclusive preview journey is our way of honouring those who have grown with us and believed in our vision from the beginning,” said Anna Nash, president of Explora Journeys. “It’s an intimate celebration of what’s to come—a chance to step aboard Explora III before her official debut, connect with the visionaries who brought her to life and discover how our Ocean State of Mind philosophy continues to evolve with every new chapter.”
When Explora III officially launches on Aug. 3, sailing from Barcelona to Lisbon, it will mark a milestone for the brand: the first LNG-powered ship in its growing fleet. The 463-suite vessel continues Explora’s emphasis on residential-style design and European sophistication while introducing new culinary and lounge concepts that expand its appeal to luxury travelers seeking greater variety.
The line promises “more space per guest than ever before,” with expansive outdoor decks and reimagined Ocean Wellness areas. That focus on both refinement and environmental responsibility is central to Explora’s next phase, as it prepares to launch additional LNG-powered ships already under construction.
