Oceania Cruises is giving the historic “Kangaroo Route” an ultra-luxury spin with a 129-day voyage linking Sydney to London in 2027, an itinerary that touches 80 ports in 34 countries and includes overnight stays in high-demand markets from Tokyo to Bordeaux. The sailing, aboard the 1,200-guest Oceania Vista, is priced from $54,999 per person and forms part of the line’s broader 2027 Around the World program.
The draw of the sailing isn’t just the breadth—four continents and marquee names like Dubai, Luxor, and Mumbai—but the way the route invites multiple sales strategies. The Kangaroo Route can appeal to clients seeking the prestige of a full world-cruise segment, those looking to combine immersive Asia-Pacific exploration with Middle East and Mediterranean highlights, or even seasoned travelers who want to tick off harder-to-reach UNESCO sites in one trip. Overnight calls in certain cities also position the voyage as a deep-dive experience rather than a rapid port hop.
The Vista itself is part of the sell. Oceania has built its luxury identity on culinary leadership—half of the crew is dedicated to food and beverage, with one chef for every eight guests—and this sailing will lean into that with its Culinary Discovery Tours ashore, hands-on classes in The Culinary Center, and 11 dining venues spanning wellness-inspired menus to classic French and Italian. Onboard inclusions go beyond Oceania’s standard “Your World Included” perks to cover shore excursion credits, shoreside events, visa services, and luggage delivery, removing some of the logistical friction that can be a deterrent on multi-country trips.
The Kangaroo Route also reflects a broader trend advisors have been tracking: the rise of “segmentable” world cruises that offer the cachet of a months-long journey without the full six- to eight-month commitment. Alongside the 129-day itinerary, Oceania is offering options ranging from a 127-day Miami-to-Doha run to its longest-ever world cruise, a 244-day Miami-to-New York “Epic Global Adventure.” Advisors can use these variations to match duration, routing, and budget to client profiles while leveraging the consistent onboard product across itineraries.
With a departure date of Feb. 26, 2027, the sailing is still more than a year away from opening final payment windows, but early marketing can tap into clients’ desire for both scarcity and bragging rights. Cabins on extended luxury voyages often move years in advance, and Oceania’s mix of small-ship intimacy, long-haul convenience, and food-forward branding makes this an itinerary that could anchor a year’s worth of high-value bookings for the right clientele.
