Hyatt Hotels Corporation has appointed Amar Lalvani as its first chief creative officer, expanding the responsibilities of the executive who joined the company through its 2024 acquisition of Standard International.

The appointment, announced September 30 and effective immediately, gives Lalvani a role across Hyatt’s global portfolio. He will retain his position as president and creative director of Hyatt’s Lifestyle Group and continue reporting to Mark Hoplamazian, Hyatt’s chairman, president and chief executive officer.

His assignment is to help define what makes each Hyatt brand distinctive and translate those differences into hotel design, guest experiences and culture. That work will involve collaboration with hotel owners, developers, company leaders and creative teams.

For travelers and the advisors helping them choose a hotel, Hyatt’s stated goal is to give guests a clearer reason to select a particular brand within its growing portfolio.

“Great brands are built through thousands of choices, from the buildings we create to the experiences our colleagues deliver every day,” Hoplamazian said. “Amar will help us make decisions with greater clarity and conviction, while keeping creativity close to the teams bringing each brand to life.”

Lalvani brings more than 25 years of hospitality experience to the position. Earlier in his career, he led global development for W Hotels. He later acquired The Standard brand and formed Standard International, helping expand The Standard internationally, grow the company through Bunkhouse Hotels, and develop concepts including The StandardX and The Manner.

After Hyatt acquired Standard International, the team behind The Standard and Bunkhouse became the foundation of its newly established Lifestyle Group, based in New York City.

“The opportunity now is to make that care more distinct, relevant and memorable through each of our brands,” Lalvani said. “Our job is now to bring greater clarity and conviction to what makes each one special, and then make that real in every detail of the experience.”

The expanded role spans a company whose portfolio included more than 1,500 hotels and all-inclusive properties in 83 countries as of June 30, 2026. Its luxury brands include Park Hyatt, Alila, Miraval, Impression by Secrets, and The Unbound Collection by Hyatt.
