Blue Diamond Resorts has assumed management of Paraíso de la Bonita, an adults-only all-inclusive resort in Riviera Maya that operates under Marriott’s Luxury Collection. The move marks Blue Diamond’s debut within Marriott’s high-end portfolio and comes amid a broader reshuffling of resort ownership and operations in the region.

Originally reflagged and renovated by Playa Hotels & Resorts, Paraíso de la Bonita reopened under the Luxury Collection in January 2025, becoming only the third property in Marriott’s growing luxury all-inclusive offering. In February, Hyatt announced plans to acquire Playa Hotels & Resorts in a $2.6 billion deal, and just months later, sold Playa’s entire real estate portfolio to Tortuga Resorts, a joint venture between KSL Capital and Rodina, for $2 billion.

As a result of the ownership transition, management of Paraíso de la Bonita has now passed to Blue Diamond Resorts, while the property remains part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection and continues to participate in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program.

“This moment stands as both a proud achievement and a meaningful milestone in our 15th anniversary year,” said Jordi Pelfort, president of Blue Diamond Resorts. “The opportunity to collaborate on such an iconic resort within The Luxury Collection reflects how far we’ve come and where we’re headed.”

Located 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport and set between a mangrove reserve and the Caribbean Sea, Paraíso de la Bonita is designed as a boutique luxury retreat with 90 oceanfront suites. Accommodations feature handcrafted furnishings, spa-inspired marble bathrooms, deep soaking tubs, and, in some categories, open-air showers.

The resort’s culinary program includes three distinct restaurants, a 5,000-bottle wine cellar, and multiple cocktail-forward bars. Its 22,000-square-foot Thalasso Spa—one of the only Thalassotherapy centers in North America—offers holistic treatments, a seawater hydrotherapy pool, sauna, and steam room.

Event-ready spaces include lush oceanfront gardens, an intimate indoor salon, and a private dock, making the resort a strong contender for luxury weddings and group buyouts.

Now fully operational under Blue Diamond Resorts, Paraíso de la Bonita represents a new chapter not just for the company, but for Marriott’s expanding approach to luxury all-inclusive travel. The move also reflects Blue Diamond’s broader strategy to deepen its presence in the upper-tier segment while maintaining its emphasis on authentic hospitality and elevated service.
