Halekulani has confirmed a new senior appointment on Oahu, announcing that industry veteran Deni Ohlsen-Dukic has joined the leadership team as executive assistant manager. The role places him in charge of day-to-day oversight across several core operational units, including the Rooms Division, Engineering, Security, SpaHalekulani, and the pool.

The Waikiki property continues to anchor one of Hawaii’s most competitive luxury corridors: Halekulani sits just off Waikiki Beach, with direct proximity to the neighborhood’s dining, shopping, and beachfront access. Its 453 rooms and suites have long made it a reference point for the area’s high-end hotel landscape, and its food and beverage program, including La Mer, Orchids, House Without A Key, and L’Aperitif, draws both residents and international travelers.

“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Ohlsen to our executive leadership team. His leadership, global perspective, and proven operational excellence will be invaluable to both our team and our guests,” said general manager Davide Barnes. “I am confident that his expertise will strengthen our operations and continue Halekulani’s tradition of exceptional hospitality.”

Ohlsen-Dukic brings more than three decades of international experience across North America, Europe, and Asia. Before arriving in Honolulu, he served as general manager of The Century Residences in Los Angeles, where he led a 100-member team responsible for ultra-luxury residential service standards. His earlier career includes senior roles with Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, The Galle Face Hotel in Colombo, and Croatia’s Suncani Hvar Hotels. During his tenure in Hvar, he opened Palace Elisabeth Heritage Hotel, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.

“I am honored to join the Halekulani family and contribute to its remarkable legacy,” Ohlsen-Dukic said. “Having visited the islands for many years, I feel a profound connection to Hawaii and have long admired Halekulani as one of Oahu’s most iconic destinations. I’m excited to embrace the richness of Hawaiian culture and actively support the local community.”The appointment follows a period of continued recognition for the property. Halekulani recently appeared on the MICHELIN Guide 2025 list of Two-Key Hotels and earned placements on Condé Nast Traveler’s 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards and Travel + Leisure’s 2025 World’s Best Awards. Along with its culinary program, the hotel operates a longstanding arts and culture platform through collaborations with leading Oahu institutions.
