The Diplomat Beach Resort has named John Trovato as its new general manager, part of its larger-scale overhaul as it continues its conversion to Signia by Hilton. The 1,000-room South Florida resort is in the midst of a multi-year refresh that’s set to be completed in May 2026.
Trovato brings more than three decades of experience overseeing full-service hotels, luxury properties, and large-scale conference environments. Previously the managing director for Casa Marina and The Reach Key West, part of the Curio Collection, he led a $100 million renovation across both properties.
The shift to Signia by Hilton is a major update in Hilton’s South Florida portfolio. The brand has become known for supporting properties with both leisure and group demand, and The Diplomat already operates at that scale. Set between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, the hotel has more than 200,000 square feet of event space, multiple restaurants, and two oceanfront pool decks. The renovation will include refreshed guestrooms, newly designed public areas, and revisions to its dining concepts, including Diplomat Prime, the hotel’s AAA Four Diamond steakhouse.
Trovato will oversee day-to-day operations during this transition and manage staffing and culture through the brand shift, an area in which he has held leadership roles statewide, including as president of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association – Monroe County and vice president of the Florida Lodging Association. Hilton leadership described the appointment as foundational to the next phase. According to the company, Trovato’s approach to team development and operational alignment was a primary factor in the selection.
The Diplomat has been a major presence in the region since 1958, operating most recently under the Curio Collection by Hilton.
