Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will open and manage a brand new luxury resorts and residences at Boquerón Bay in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico in 2028, the group announced on Wednesday.

The resort will be the third Mandarin Oriental resort in the Caribbean, joining its resort in Canouan in the Grenadines and another in Grand Cayman. The Puerto Rico resort is part of a projected called Esencia, a new coastal community being developed by real estate companies Three Rules Capital and Reuben Brothers.

Plans include 106 rooms and suites, all with a balcony, terrace, or private garden. Some suites will feature plunge pools and all villas on property will include private pools. The company is also planning 83 of its residential villas and 200 private residences on-site, as well.

Not a lot has been revealed about specific plans elsewhere on property, but the company did say guests will be able to enjoy five different dining venues, a beach club and poolside restaurant and bar, and a Spa at Mandarin Oriental, the company’s signature wellness offering, which it pairs with a fitness center that includes an outdoor lap-pool.

The resort will be available to host weddings and other events, with both indoor and outdoor event space. Other plans for the resort include a Rees Jones-designed 18-hole golf course, a dedicated children’s club and an outdoor adventure center.

The company is also expanding in Mexico. Last year it announced plans for its first property in the country, a beachfront resort in the Riviera Maya.
