Mandarin Oriental has appointed Mirko Cattini as general manager of Mandarin Oriental Rome, ahead of the luxury property’s scheduled opening in 2027.
Cattini joined the company on June 15 and will report to Flavia Caponi, regional vice president of operations. His appointment comes as Mandarin Oriental continues to expand its presence in Italy and strengthen its footprint in the European luxury hospitality market. The Rome property will expand Mandarin Oriental’s portfolio in Italy to five hotels, joining its existing properties in Milan and Lake Como, as well as the previously announced developments in Cortina and Porto Cervo.
Cattini brings more than 25 years of experience in luxury hospitality, having held senior leadership roles across Europe and Asia with Shangri-La Group, Dorchester Collection, Corinthia Hotels, Taj Hotels, and the Savoy Group, now known as Maybourne. His career has included assignments in Rome, London, Singapore, Bangkok, Cebu, and Mumbai.
He most recently served as general manager of Hotel Eden Rome, where he oversaw operations with a focus on personalized guest service, commercial performance, and service standards. Earlier in his career, he held several food-and-beverage leadership positions at luxury hotels and resorts.
Originally from Lake Como, Cattini has earned certifications from the Hotel and Catering Institutional Management Association in London and Cornell University’s General Managers Program.
He will oversee the pre-opening phase of Mandarin Oriental Rome and lead the property’s opening, now scheduled for 2027.
